Sampling continued in the wet lab throughout the day, and the seas are calming to a nice gentle swell – the first such conditions we have enjoyed on the entire trip. We did some sampling at 500+ m and found very few commercial fishes but an interesting array of invertebrates. Some soft corals were found; deep sea corals in the Newfoundland and Labrador region are only beginning to be studied. Deep sea corals can be found all over the world and are long lived and slow growing.
